Fenerbahçe SK manager İsmail Kartal will continue in his role. The club announced on Friday evening around 20:30 that technical director İsmail Kartal would continue in his position.

Kartal had submitted his resignation following the 1-1 draw with AS Roma in the UEFA Champions League on Thursday, 10 September 2026. He did not attend training the following day, and football director Oğuz Çetin spoke with him but failed to reach an agreement. President Aziz Yıldırım then intervened, convincing Kartal to reverse his decision.

BACK IN CHARGE FOR SATURDAY TRAINING

The club stated that preparations for the Gaziantep FK match continue under the management of Technical Director İsmail Kartal. Kartal was subsequently in charge of the team's training session on Saturday, with Fenerbahçe sharing images from the session on their official accounts.

The decision provides stability for the side, who are 9th in the Süper Lig with 6 points from 4 games and lost 2-1 to Beşiktaş in their last league outing. The team's next league fixture is away to 12th-placed Başakşehir on 6 December 2026. İsmail Kartal is now continuing work to complete preparations for the Gaziantep FK match.
