Gaziantep FK forward Serdar Dursun criticised Fenerbahçe's squad after his team held them to a 0-0 draw in the Süper Lig's fifth week. The match in Gaziantep ended without a goal.
Speaking to journalists after the game, Dursun stated that Fenerbahçe had clear chances. "It's a big team, it was a difficult match but of course we came out for three points," he said. The forward added that his team had one or two chances in the first half and earned a point.
SQUAD CRITICISM
The player gave a blunt assessment of Fenerbahçe's roster. "I think there is an insufficiency in the squad, for players," Dursun claimed. He suggested this situation ties the coach's hands and prevents him from implementing his desired style of play due to a lack of player quality in certain positions. Dursun also noted that a six-point gap has already opened in the standings, even though it's only the fifth week of the season.
PRESSURE ON TURKISH PLAYERS
In his remarks, Dursun also touched on the pressure facing Turkish players. He said Turkish footballers cannot play as they wish in domestic matches and feel significant pressure. He argued this also prevents the manager from expressing everything he wants.
With this draw, Fenerbahçe sit 12th in the Süper Lig with 6 points from 4 matches. Their form across the last five official games reads DDLWW. The team's next league fixture is away to 14th-placed Başakşehir on 6 December 2026.
