Fenerbahçe SK have launched a special preparation program for striker Romelu Lukaku during the international break. Manager İsmail Kartal aims to improve the physical condition and clarify the attacking role of the Belgian star, who is yet to score or assist since joining from Napoli in the summer.
Kartal stated that the goal is to get Lukaku more involved inside the penalty area and to maximise the use of his physical strength. The experienced coach expressed confidence in the player's quality and believes he will make a significant contribution to the team.
The program includes evaluations on whether Lukaku is more effective as a lone striker or alongside another attacker. Sitting 6th in the Süper Lig with 10 points, Fenerbahçe expect a stronger and more effective Lukaku after the break. The team's form in the last five matches reads two wins, two draws and one defeat.
There is no rush in Lukaku's integration process. İsmail Kartal's plan is to boost the striker's physical conditioning and define his role in attack. As Fenerbahçe prepare for their away fixture against Rizespor on 10 October, they are also monitoring the fitness of sidelined players Jayden Oosterwolde and Mert Müldür. The team's top scorer this season is Vedat Muriqi with 6 goals, and full squad details and player stats are available on our site.
